United Way and Toys for Tots

Throughout the year, ESI donates time and money to several community programs. Wrapping up 2014, ESI contributed to two important community programs: the United Way, through monthly donations and yearly community support participation, and at the annual Toys for Tots Drag & Bag.

Last month, ESI became an official Toy Drop Site for the Toys for Tots program, filled the toy donation box, and several ESI employees and their family members volunteered at the final toy drive Drag & Bag event for the Thurston County, WA chapter.

During the Drag & Bag, over 150 volunteers helped consolidate thousands of donated toys collected from a large pile taking up a small warehouse and several office rooms into appropriate age and gender piles. Once all the toys were sorted, the volunteers then selected specific toys to be given to families with children who were registered to receive toys. Over 1100 families were supported from this one chapter receiving everything from bikes to stuffed zebras.

In addition to volunteering for the Toys for Tots Drag & Bag Engineered Software employees have worked closely with the United Way of Thurston County volunteering time and money to programs that support and sustain families in our community.

Every month, employees of ESI have the ability to donate a percentage of their wages to the United Way of Thurston County. ESI’s owners match employee contributions effectively doubling each donation and in 2014 our little company of 36 employees contributed over $8,000.

As we start the new year of giving here is a snapshot of how far the ESI employee and company contributions changed the lives of many in our community.

  • Provided 12 children with weekend meals for the entire school year
  • Gave 2 months of fresh food including meat, produce, and vegetables for a safe shelter aimed at protecting victims of domestic violence
  • Built backyard gardens for 6 families to promote and improve financial stability
  • Funded year-long meals and companionship for 20 elderly citizens

We look forward to another successful year of giving back to our community. Next stop, we will be supporting the 6th Annual Straight from the Heart fundraiser  on February 7th, 2015. As part of the silent auction our Chief Engineer and co-owner is offering up a wonderful ride in his private plane. Be there to bid, it is for a wonderful cause.
