PIPE-FLO Feature of the Month
New Water Table Update Download

The water table has been updated to reflect the most current available data from the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS). This change will only affect the density data for water. Steam density will still be determined using the Peng-Robinson equation of state. The new water density table uses an equation based on the latest IAPWS steam tables. The original water density data was based on older steam tables. The average deviation in density between the new and old water tables is 0.34% and the maximum is less than 1%. Furthermore, on test systems, the new water density table resulted in only slight changes to calculated values, typically less than 1%. The water table was updated as part of a continuing effort to keep up with the most current standards and practices for calculations used in ESI software.

To use the table, simply click on the attached file labeled Water Table Installer.exe. Choose to run the program and the installer will place the new water table in the proper directory. Once the table is installed, it should show up in the program as Water_IAPWS.

The new water table will replace the current table on all future versions of PIPE-FLO and Flow of Fluids. The last programs to use the old water table are PIPE-FLO Professional and Stock 2007 and Flow of Fluids 2007.

Spring 2008 FLO-MASTER Seminars

The March FLO-Master in Orlando, Florida was a success. The next FLO-Master in Houston, Texas will be held on April 17 & 18. Houston is another popular site for us and the seats are selling quickly. FLO-Master seminars are two days, lunch included, with the second day completely focused on real-world examples and hands-on use of the PIPE-FLO program. All the newest features are covered as well as the program basics for anyone who needs a brush-up on the essentials. Examples will include advanced pumps and controls, variable frequency drives, two-way communication with Microsoft Excel using X-Link, balancing a system expansion, sizing pumps in series with a large campus chilled water system, and dynamic time simulations with Overtime.

Spring 2008 FLO-MASTER Schedule:
Houston, TX ● April 17-18
Cincinnati, OH ● May 8-9

If you find that these dates and locations will not work for you, we also provide onsite training opportunities. For more information about onsite training or the course outline for our FLO-Master seminars, visit our website at http://www.eng-software.com/products/flomaster.aspx or call (800) 786-8545.

Spring 2008 Piping System Fundamentals Training

Both the Baton Rouge AND the Cincinnati class have been expanded! The first class was SO popular that we made extra space available for the second class in Ohio. Walk-ins are welcome but if you purchase your seat today, you will receive $100 off the door price. Purchase your seat online today and save!

The two-day course has been developed for anyone needing to obtain a clear picture of the operation of the total fluid piping systems. This course does not explain or include tutorials on particular software, but instead discusses meaningful principles that explain why and how piping systems physically work and operate.

The New Piping System Fundamentals course uses a minimum of math formulas with an emphasis on understanding the relationships between components making up a piping system. Attendees will receive a course workbook, a copy of CRANE’s TP410, and the new book Piping System Fundamentals: The Complete Guide to Gaining a Clear Picture of Your Piping System. The course is worth 1.4 Continuing Educational Units (CEU) or 14 Professional Development Hours.
